Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, has begun an official visit to Hungary, invited by the government of this country, which currently presides over the European Union. This visit not only represents a significant diplomatic gesture but also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the historic visit by the Chancellor of Dignity, Raúl Roa, to Hungary.
During his stay, Rodríguez Parrilla engaged in dialogue with János Latorcai, the Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament. Both leaders discussed their mutual interest in strengthening exchanges between the legislative bodies of Cuba and Hungary.
This meeting underscores the importance of interparliamentary relations and their potential to foster closer collaboration.
The Cuban minister expressed his optimism through a message on X, stating: “We hope to continue deepening the existing ties between our two countries and with the EU.” This comment highlights Cuba’s commitment to advancing more robust cooperation with Europe, especially in the current context.
The meeting, described as “excellent and fruitful,” also included discussions with Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian Foreign Minister. According to statements from the Cuban minister, this encounter is fundamental for tightening bilateral ties and reinforcing political-diplomatic dialogue between the two nations.
During the talks, three agreements were signed that reflect both parties’ interest in continuing to develop bilateral cooperation. These agreements cover various areas, emphasizing a willingness to advance economic, trade, and scientific-technical links.
Rodríguez Parrilla also communicated that the signed agreements address topics related to science and innovation, as well as cultural and educational aspects.
This multidimensional approach aims not only to strengthen diplomatic relations but also to promote enriching exchanges between Cuban and Hungarian societies.
