Deadly Airstrike in Sudan’s Darfur Region Sparks Outrage

March 25, 2025 Hour: 8:54 pm
A devastating military airstrike on Monday claimed the lives of at least 54 people in the village of Tora, located in Sudan’s western region of Darfur. The attack, which targeted a local market, ignited a massive fire and left 23 others injured, according to aid groups. More than half of the victims were women.
The Sudanese military has denied allegations of targeting civilians, calling them “incorrect.” However, rights groups have condemned the strike, labeling it a “war crime” due to its impact on densely populated areas.
The attack has intensified calls for accountability and an independent investigation into the incident.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023, has resulted in over 28,000 deaths and displaced millions. The situation in Darfur remains critical, with violence escalating between the Sudanese military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The humanitarian crisis has left families struggling to survive, with famine sweeping parts of the country.
