At least 21 people were killed and many others injured on Monday as a result of a car bomb attack on the outskirts of Manbij, northern Syria. According to information from the Civil Defense of the interim government led by members of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), among the victims were 14 women and one man, all agricultural workers.

The White Helmets, members of the Civil Defense, warned that the death toll could rise due to the magnitude of the attack, which they described as a “horrific massacre.” This bombing comes just two days after a similar attack in the same city, where four civilians lost their lives and nine were injured.
In Manbij, there is a fierce dispute between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Kurds and backed by the United States, and the Syrian National Army (SNA), supported by Turkey.
Since the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, violence has escalated in Aleppo Governorate, with SNA and SDF forces clashing for control over rural territory and the Tishreen Dam.
The Tishreen Dam, a strategic point in the region, has become one of the main focal points of conflict, with SDF defending it while Turkish-backed forces attempt to seize control due to its significance as a vital water resource.
In this context, Kurdish residents in the surrounding areas have demanded protection for this water source, and Kurdish authorities have indicated that airstrikes on the dam could cause severe environmental damage.
