Sudanese activists from the Emergency Lawyers organization confirmed that the death toll in Sudan has risen to 200 after three days of paramilitary attacks on villages near the city of al-Gitaina in White Nile State.

Rapid Support Forces Accused of Targeting Civilians

The attacks were reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), who allegedly targeted unarmed civilians in areas without military presence. The violence was concentrated in the villages of Al Kadaris and Al Khelwat.

The RSF is accused of committing summary executions, kidnappings, and looting, resulting in hundreds of injuries and disappearances.

Sudanese Government Condemns Attacks as Worst Against Civilians

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the RSF’s actions as the “worst committed” against civilians since the start of the conflict in April 2023, when a power struggle erupted between the RSF paramilitary group and the national army, led by Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

Humanitarian Crisis and Mass Displacement

The ongoing conflict has devastated Sudan, one of the world’s poorest countries, worsening the already critical humanitarian situation.

  • Thousands of deaths have been reported since the conflict began.
  • Over 12 million Sudanese have been forced to flee the country.
  • The International Rescue Committee has described the situation as the “largest humanitarian crisis ever recorded.”

Efforts to Provide Humanitarian Aid

Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Sudanese government, and the United Nations are working closely to alleviate the suffering of the population and provide humanitarian aid to those affected.
