Death Toll Rises to 31 After Deadly Israeli Bombing in Lebanon

Lebanese Public Health Minister Firas Abiad confirmed on Saturday that the number of people killed in the Israeli bombing, which hit a residential building outside Beirut on Friday, increased to 31, while the number of wounded rose to 68.

Abiad said between the death figures three were children and seven were women, and he added that there are still unidentified human remains, 16 belonged to the Lebanese anti-Zionist group Hezbollah, as confirmed by the movement in several early-morning press releases this Saturday as well.

Among those killed were Commander Ibrahim Aqil and Ahmed Wahbi, leader of the elite Radwan Forces, representing the second major attack on Lebanese capital Beirut since July, when another top Hezbollah’s military was killed.

The Health Minister argued that the total number of deaths in these three days, including the explosions of beepers and walkie talkies, reaches 70 as added that total number of deaths so far, could increase due to the presence of critically injured in several hospitals in the capital.

In this regard, Abiad explained that since Tuesday, more than 2,000 surgical procedures have been performed in hospitals to treat those affected by the series of simultaneous explosions on thousands of pagers and walkie talkies controlled by Hezbollah members.
