The deaths were due to landslides, floods, overflowing rivers and other incidents in the departments of Suchitepéquez, San Marcos, Guatemala Quiché and Jalapa, according to the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred).
One of the most shocking incidents was on Friday evening, when a landslide cost the lives of a woman and a minor driving in their vehicle in the department of San Marcos, according to official sources.
During the rainy season, which began 15 days ago, almost 2.5 million people have been affected throughout the country, according to official data.
This Friday in different villages of the department of Santa Rosa, on the south coast of Guatemala, floods were reported in its main streets, forcing neighbors to move on boats on the sidewalks, while access to businesses and housing was partially blocked by water.
According to the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh), the floods are due to the overflow of the Los Esclavos River, which has an outlet in the Pacific Ocean and a length of 145 kilometers.
