In 1977, the UN declared November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

On Friday, which marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro confirmed that his nation firmly opposes the Zionist policy of extermination and supports the right of the Palestinian people to have their own independent state.

“We are deeply pained by the crimes committed daily against the children, women, and men of Palestine, the sacred land of all, which is now enduring genocide,” he said via Telegram.

“I am not exaggerating when I say that defending Palestine and its right to life, independence, and existence is defending the right to the existence of Venezuela, Latin America, and the Caribbean.”

“It is a crucial battle against fascism, Zionism, and colonialism in its new forms. It is a battle for the right to a new society, dignity, and cultural diversity,” Maduro added.

The text reads, “Palestine and Venezuela are united by the fight against Western hegemony and fascism. Perhaps for this reason, the Latin American nation has historically embraced the Palestinian cause. Caracas’ firm rejection of the aggression and extermination policy carried out by Israel is not limited to the ongoing genocide that began on October 7, 2023. In 2009, Bolivarian leader Hugo Chavez Frias expelled the Israeli ambassador from Venezuela, marking the breakdown of diplomatic relations between the Latin American nation and the Zionist government.”

“The most important battle humanity faces is for the human homeland and the liberation of Palestine. From Venezuela, we do everything possible to ensure that solidarity is expressed in concrete terms. The Palestinian people deserve justice, and with the support of all humanity, they will prevail sooner rather than later,” the Bolivarian leader pointed out.

For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yván Gil emphasized that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is an occasion to reflect on Palestine’s history and continue promoting the struggle for people’s rights.

In 1977, the United Nations declared November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, aiming to remind the world each year that “the crisis in Palestine remains unresolved.”
