The Director of Medical Aid in the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Abu Afash, has raised alarms about the dire living conditions faced by the Gazan population due to difficulties in accessing basic necessities such as food, medicine, and housing.

Abu Afash highlighted the urgent need for approximately 60,000 mobile homes and 200,000 tents to shelter thousands of families left homeless as a result of Israeli aggression. These families are currently enduring a severe cold wave and heavy rains, exacerbating their already precarious living situation.

Amy Pope, the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), expressed her sorrow over the lack of safe refuge for Gazan citizens due to the extensive destruction in the area. “The magnitude of the destruction in Gaza is astounding.

Families who have lost everything are facing the cold without protection, infrastructure, or services, and with no certainty about what tomorrow will bring,” Pope emphasized at the end of her visit to the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian health authorities have reported that due to the low temperatures and lack of heating methods amid fuel shortages, six infants have died in the past week, including a baby less than two months old.

The Israeli occupation regime continues to impose a siege on the Gaza Strip amid its genocidal operation that began on October 7, 2023, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid intended for families affected by the bombings. These bombings have resulted in the deaths of over 48,000 Palestinians and injuries to another 111,000 to date.
