Director of Gaza Media Office Denounces Killing of Palestinian Babies by Israel

The director of the Gaza Government Media Office, Ismail Al-Thawabta, denounced that the Israeli occupation has killed 1,091 Palestinian babies since October 7, 2023. In a statement released by the Maan news agency, Al-Thawabta asserted that out of the total number of babies killed in that Palestinian territory, 238 were martyred just after their birth.

He condemned the attacks on babies by the Zionist regime as a clear war crime and called on the international community to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter and hold those responsible accountable.

According to Palestinian authorities, since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in the enclave, occupying forces have killed at least 17,400 children in Gaza. This means that a child is killed every 30 minutes by the Zionist occupation. Additionally, thousands are reported missing under the rubble.

Last Sunday, marking 450 days of the current Israeli aggression against Gaza, authorities in the territory reported that 11,200 people remain missing and trapped under debris, with 1,413 Palestinian families exterminated and erased from civil records after being massacred along with the 5,455 individuals who comprised them.

There are also reports of 12,287 women killed since the onset of genocide. Women and children represent 70% of Palestinians who have died during the current siege on Gaza, totaling 45,553 deaths while injuries have risen to 108,379.

Gaza authorities indicated that 44 people have died from hunger during this period, including five babies, and that 3,500 infants are at risk of death due to malnutrition and food shortages.

Meanwhile, during New Year celebrations around the world, while people celebrated the arrival of 2025, Palestinians in Gaza spent New Year’s Eve fleeing from Israeli bombings, mourning their lost loved ones, salvaging what they could from their flooded tents, and enduring freezing winter temperatures that threaten the lives of their youngest.

Israel has continued its genocidal offensive in the war-torn territory while ignoring global calls for an end to violence.
