According to a message from Steven Cheung, spokesman for the Republican candidate, «The European Union should take care of its own affairs rather than trying to interfere in the US presidential elections».

In this way, Cheung replied to the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, who warned Musk on Monday in a letter that Brussels monitors X the publication of hate content and reminded him, ahead of the interview on Monday night with Trump, that he is not exempt from the law.
«We are monitoring the potential risks in the European Union associated with the dissemination of content that may incite violence, hatred and racism in conjunction with major political and social events around the world, including election debates and interviews», said Breton.
Since the new Digital Services Act came into force last summer, Brussels has opened investigations against X for the dissemination of illegal content in the EU and on the effectiveness of the measures they are taking to curb disinformation.
According to Breton, «any negative effect» in the EU which could be attributed to a breach of European legislation by X will be relevant in the file opened in Brussels to this social network, which may result in fines of up to 6 percent of the platform’s annual global turnover.
In his conversation with Trump, Musk considered that there are «many attempts of censorship, even on the Americans, by other countries», while the former conservative president stressed that the European Union «takes advantage» of the United States.
