“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” the Republican politician said.
Wiles, an experienced Republican strategist, is widely acknowledged for overseeing Trump’s most organized and effectively run campaign. Trump thanked Wiles personally in his victory speech at his election headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud,” he continued,” Trump said.
Susan Wiles, who has been associated with the Republican Party for more than four decades and defines herself as a “moderate,” has run campaigns for presidents, mayors, governors and congressmen with many more victories than defeats. Much of Trump’s success in the 2016 and 2024 presidential elections is the result of her ability to navigate lobbyists, lawyers and journalists.
Wiles grew up and was educated in New Jersey. At 22, she was hired as an assistant to Jack Kemp, her father’s former teammate on the Giants and Republican congressman from New York.
In 1980, she was part of Ronald Reagan’s campaign team. Since the 1990s, her career has been based in Florida, where she moved to serve as district director for Congresswoman Tillie Fowler, after marrying Lanny Wiles, a Reagan confidant, with whom she had two daughters and ended up divorcing in 2017.
She was also director of communications and intergovernmental affairs for former Jacksonville mayors John Delaney and John Peyton in Florida where she also managed to help Ron DeSantis win the gubernatorial election in 2018.
