He would become a one-day ‘dictator’ only to push forward his plan to close the border and increase fossil fuel production.
During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump promised he would sign a wide range of executive orders on his first day in the White House, including those related to the mass deportation of immigrants and a ban on transgender women in women’s sports.

In 2023, the New York magnate declared he would be a “dictator” only on the “first day” to push forward his plan to “close the border” and increase fossil fuel production.
Since launching his second presidential campaign in November 2022, Trump has made at least 41 distinct promises about what he intends to do on his first day, according to an analysis by The Washington Post.
His biggest promise has been to launch the largest deportation of immigrants in U.S. history on his first day in office. His plan would require coordination between federal agencies and local authorities to conduct massive raids targeting over 11 million undocumented people living in the country, which would likely face numerous legal challenges and come at a high economic cost for the United States.
Another promise Trump made on immigration for his first day as president is to end birthright citizenship, a principle enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. However, such a measure would require a constitutional amendment, approved by two-thirds of both chambers of Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the states.
The Republican would have an easier time eliminating protections from Joe Biden’s administration for undocumented people married to U.S. citizens, though this matter would likely end up in the courts.
Trump also wants to ban transgender women —whom he refers to as men— from participating in women’s sports and prohibit gender-affirming surgeries for minors, two issues that have received strong applause at his campaign rallies.
The Republican has also promised to cut federal funding to educational institutions where discussions on race, gender, or sexual orientation take place, though he would need Congressional approval to do so.
The magnate has also said he would “fire in two seconds” Special Counsel Jack Smith, who has led the investigation against him for alleged election interference in 2020 and for instigating the January 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol.
The Republican politician has also stated that on his first day, he would pardon several of those convicted of attacking Congress and attempting to halt the transfer of power.
Trump, a climate crisis skeptic, wants to eliminate on his first day all of Biden’s regulations aimed at incentivizing electric vehicle manufacturing.
The magnate has also stated he would achieve a deal to end the war in Ukraine in just 24 hours, even before taking office. The Republican has not clarified whether he would allow Russia to annex part of Ukrainian territory, which has caused alarm in Kyiv and among its NATO allies.
