This exercise aims to refine the components and systems of voting, counting, transmission and publication of results, crucial for the election between Luisa González and Daniel Noboa.

Evaluation of the operation of the Receiving Boards, logistics and technological systems, seeking to ensure the efficiency, security and transparency of the final electoral process.

The president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, stated that, up to the moment of the inauguration of the simulation, 14 of the 24 provinces of the country had received the electoral packages and were in their warehouses under the custody of the Armed Forces.

Atamaint highlighted that, with this technical trial of the electoral system, the authorities of Ecuador are sending a message that they are preparing with rigor, planning, and transparency for the presidential runoff. “Every vote counts and, as we have always done, it will be absolutely respected,” she declared.

She also indicated that today the Polling Boards, Act Digitization Centers, and Electoral Processing Centers will be rigorously verified under real conditions. She assured that the Information System for Scrutiny and Results, security protocols, scanning times, transmission, validation, and publication of minutes are being evaluated today so that there is no margin for error on April 13.

For his part, the vice president of the CNE of Ecuador, Enrique Pita, denied categorically that the electoral computer system could be breached or that it could interfere with the transmission of results during the second round of the presidential elections.

He also denied the existence of data processing centres outside the CNE, thus responding to rumours about a possible alteration of the election results disseminated on social networks. These statements were made during the opening of the mock election.
