Ecuador’s Electoral Authorities Verificate The Voting Computerized System

The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Ecuador, informed they started the verification of the Computer System for Scrutiny and Results database for the second round of presidential elections, ensuring the machines have not been tampered with, meaning that the results are zeroed in until counting begins.

CNE authorities said that the process was carried out by the in the presence of Dr. María Elena Altamirano, Notaria Septuagésima Primera of the canton of Quito, “as well as auditors of political organizations and media.”
The electoral entity informed that Gladys Flores, national administrator of the Computer System for Scrutiny and Results was responsible for verifying that the HASH codes generated for the sealing of the components that make up the System have not been modified or altered.
“This procedure is carried out with the presence of delegates: Santiago Díaz, from the alliance Revolución Ciudadana-Movimiento Renovación Total (RC-RETO); and, Franklin Suárez from the movement Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN) ; as well as members of the Electoral Observation Missions and media,” cleared out the CNE.
Fabricio Espín, director of CNE Systems, stressed that the sealing and sealing of the voting system for the second round guarantees the authenticity of the results, giving confidence to citizens, political organizations and international observers.
Espin added that the electoral process includes certification that the system does not contain pre-election information. After the close of voting, votes are counted and recorded in counting records, which are transferred to scanning centres for digitisation.
This information is sent to the electoral processing centers, and from 18:00, the data will begin to reach the command center, publishing the minutes immediately and uninterrupted.
