The Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it held Israel responsible for not maintaining the status quo at al-Aqsa Mosque and urged it not to interfere with the Islamic and Christian holy sites of occupied Palestine.

It also demanded that Tel Aviv fulfil its obligations as an occupying state and put an end to these provocative statements aimed at increasing tension in the region.

Egypt emphasized that irresponsible statements against Islamic and Christian sanctities in the Palestinian territories hinder efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry called the statements of the Israeli minister Ben Gvir a serious danger for the future of the final settlement of the Palestinian conflict, with the international proposal to recognize two states and consolidate the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
