Arab countries, including Egypt, have the capacity to rebuild the Gaza Strip within three years, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli stated.

On February 12, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement affirming that Cairo intends to present a comprehensive plan for reconstructing Gaza, ensuring that the Palestinian people remain in the territory.

“The reconstruction of Gaza could take three years. Egypt and the Arab countries are capable of achieving this within that timeframe,” Madbuli said during a press conference.

On Monday, Al-Ghad TV reported that heavy machinery had arrived in Gaza from Egypt via the Rafah crossing.

On January 15, Israel and Hamas agreed to a 42-day ceasefire, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The truce took effect on January 19.

The agreement followed 470 days of hostilities, resulting in over 48,200 Palestinian deaths and around 1,200 Israeli casualties. The conflict also spread to Lebanon and Yemen, leading to missile exchanges between Israel and Iran.

The first phase of the agreement includes the exchange of 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas for around 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Meanwhile, Israeli forces are expected to withdraw to Gaza’s borders, though they will remain inside the enclave for now.

This marks the second ceasefire since Hamas launched a surprise attack on over 20 Israeli communities on October 7, 2023, triggering the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
