The first projections following the conclusion of the parliamentary elections in the self-proclaimed independent state of Kosovo this Sunday at 18:00 GMT place the ruling party ‘Vetëvendosje’ (Self-Determination) of Prime Minister Albin Kurti in first place.

Kurti’s party would obtain between 38.2% and 42.3% of the votes, far from the 50.3% achieved in the 2021 general elections, and with this possible distribution, it would not be ensured that Kurti could remain in power.
Projections from the newspaper ‘Koha Ditore’ and the television station ‘Klan Kosova’ indicate that the second position was taken by the PDK party, which emerged from the Kosovo Albanian guerrilla UCK, with between 21.0% and 22.4% of the votes, ahead of the historic independence party LDK, which has 20%.
The AAK-NISMA, another party that emerged from the UCK, would have obtained between 6% and 7.6% of the votes, meaning that the three opposition parties could have gained more seats than the Prime Minister’s party.
In the 2021 elections, Kurti achieved an absolute majority with 50.3%, while the PDK obtained 17% and the LDK 12.7%.
With these results, ‘Koha Ditore’ and ‘Klan Kosova’ estimate that Kurti’s party would secure between 43 and 47 of the 120 seats, while the PDK and LDK would have between 23 and 25 seats each, and the AAK-NISMA between 7 and 9.
The remaining 20 seats are reserved for the country’s ethnic minorities, 10 of which are for Serbs.
