Elections in Uruguay: More than 70.5% of Eligible Voters Have Already Cast Their Ballots

One of the first citizens to vote this morning was former president José Pepe Mujica (2010-2015), who took the opportunity to urge the population to go to the polls and support the democratic system.

According to the latest report from the Electoral Court, over 70.5% of eligible citizens have exercised their right to vote in the national elections.
This figure indicates that more than half of the electorate has already made a decision in this significant process.
The Electoral Court also reported that the department with the lowest participation rate is Salto, with 68% of registered voters.
It is followed by Treinta y Tres at 68.2%, Artigas and Rivera both at 68.5%, and Tacuarembó at 69.3%. In Montevideo, participation stands at 69.9%.
On the other hand, Florida stands out as the department with the highest participation, reaching 74.5%. It is followed by Flores at 73.5%, Maldonado at 73.1%, Colonia at 72.8%, Soriano at 72.4%, and Lavalleja at 72.2%, as reported by El Observador.
