Escalating Violence in Gaza: Civilians Bear the Brunt of Israeli Airstrikes

April 3, 2025 Hour: 3:03 pm
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels as Israeli airstrikes continue to devastate the region. On Thursday evening, an airstrike targeted the Fahd As-Sabbah school in Gaza City, which had been converted into a shelter for displaced families. The attack claimed the lives of three Palestinians and left several others injured, according to reports from WAFA.
Earlier in the day, another airstrike struck Dar al-Arqam school in the At-Tuffah neighborhood, killing 29 civilians and injuring over 100 others. These strikes are part of a renewed wave of aggression that began on March 18, following Israel’s unilateral termination of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Since then, hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children, have been killed.
The death toll from the ongoing military campaign, which started in October 2023, has now surpassed 50,523 fatalities, with 114,776 injuries reported. Medical sources indicate that at least 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of destroyed homes.
The situation has forced nearly two million people into displacement, with the majority seeking refuge in the overcrowded southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border. This mass exodus is described as the largest since the 1948 Nakba.
The humanitarian impact is compounded by the ongoing siege, which has blocked the entry of essential medical and food supplies. Emergency teams are struggling to recover victims and provide aid amidst the destruction.
