Previously, Donald Trump announced the imposition of a 25% tariff on goods imported from the European Union.
On Thursday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk rejected accusations made by former President Donald Trump, according to which the European Union (EU) was created to harm the United States.

European Union Was Born to Screw the United States: Trump
“The EU was not created to screw anyone over. On the contrary, it was established to maintain peace, build mutual respect among our nations, create free and fair trade, and strengthen our transatlantic friendship. It’s that simple,” the Polish prime minister posted on the platform X.
Shortly before, Trump had claimed that “the European Union was formed to screw the United States” and announced the imposition of a 25% tariff on goods imported from the EU, including automobiles.
On Wednesday, Tusk published a message referring to the cooling of transatlantic relations and questioning the international policy of the Trump administration. “Uncertainty, unpredictability, deals. Are these really the rules on which the new international order should be based?” he asked.
Tusk’s statements highlight the difficult situation facing the alliance between Washington and its European partners, both in trade and politics.
In other European countries, Trump’s remarks also sparked various reactions. For example, the spokesperson for the French government, Sophie Primas, accused Trump of “provoking,” emphasizing that “the EU was not created to annoy the United States.”
On Thursday, the European Commission issued a statement announcing that “the EU will respond decisively and immediately to unjustified barriers to free and fair trade, including tariffs.”
At a recent informal meeting of EU Industry Ministers in Warsaw, the European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maroš Šefčovič, stated that “the EU will respond firmly to any trade partner that imposes tariffs on European products in an unfair or arbitrary manner.”
