Former President Evo Morales has intensified his political pressure strategy by announcing a hunger strike in pursuit of a national dialogue to address the current tensions between the Bolivian government and mobilized social organizations.
In a public statement, the ex-president emphasized that dialogue is the only viable path to resolve political differences and prevent bloodshed. “We reiterate that dialogue is the only way,” Morales asserted, urging his supporters to consider a pause in the road blockades affecting several regions of the country.
Not only did the former leader declare a hunger strike, but he also demanded the withdrawal of military and police forces from conflict areas.
Furthermore, he proposed the establishment of two dialogue tables to discuss economic and political issues, requesting the involvement of international organizations as facilitators.
Morales criticized current President Luis Arce, reminding him that his rise to power was made possible by popular support, suggesting that inciting violence among his followers is an act of betrayal.
