A report examining the pros and cons of artificial intelligence (AI) for global media was unveiled today during the opening ceremony of the 6th Global Media Summit.
Titled “Responsibility and Mission of Media in the Age of AI,” the report was published by the Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with Xinhua News Agency, China’s state news agency.
The document, which consists of four sections, explores the opportunities and challenges faced by global media in the AI era. It also delves into the mission of media organizations while highlighting the current understanding and application of AI within the global news industry.
The report is based on extensive interviews with global media organizations, technology companies, and scientific research institutes, as well as multilingual surveys conducted among media outlets worldwide.
The event took place in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
