Rescue services have managed to locate four bodies from the rubble and are still searching for other potential victims, after recovering one person alive this afternoon who has been taken to hospital, local authorities reported.

Construction lights have been placed in the area of the disaster so that the search for victims among the rubble can continue in the dark. The mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, said that searches will also be carried out tonight, although it is unknown who was inside the houses at the time of the incident.

The mayor reported that there were two explosions, one small and one very strong, but it is still not clear what caused them and whether they are related.

Firefighters located a burnt car about ten meters from the collapsed building and is investigating its possible link with what happened, since the vehicles parked behind the houses affected were not hit by fire.

In addition, according to the Dutch police, a vehicle left at high speed from the scene of the incident immediately after the explosion. Agents are calling in potential witnesses for help and are reviewing the recordings to try to identify the car, in case it may be linked to the explosions.
