Due to severe weather conditions, around 260,000 households had no power supply on Sunday morning, and by 6:00 p.m. Sunday local time (2000 GMT), there were still 135,000 households left without power. Disruptions were also reported from road and railway transport.

The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute said on Sunday that most of the rain from this episode had fallen, expecting rainfall to stop by Tuesday.

On Sunday, a firefighter in northeastern Austria died in floods as torrential rain and heavy storms swept across the central European country. He was pumping water from a flooded building in the state of Lower Austria, which was declared a natural disaster zone on Sunday morning.

Lower Austria Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner said that over 25,000 emergency personnel had been deployed. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer pledged federal support for the state and its communities.

Torrential rain also caused casualties in the Austrian capital of Vienna. By Sunday evening, six people in Vienna had been injured by falling branches or trees. The Wien River reached a peak water level of 3.9 meters around 11 a.m. on Sunday and overflowed part of the river banks. Several metro lines in the city were also disrupted by floods on Sunday morning.
