France Goes to the Polls in Runoff of Snap Parliamentary Elections With High Turnout

The French vote this Sunday in the runoff of a parliamentary snap elections called by the President Emmanuel Macron last month after his Party’s bad break on the European Elections amid the far-right fast forward.

Participation in the second round of the French legislative elections this Sunday stood at 59.71% at 17.00 (15.00 GMT), the highest figure since the 1981 elections, reported the Interior Ministry.
Meanwhile, Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party is on the verge of achieving a historic victory in the runoff in which voters elect whether or not to grant it the absolute majority to govern the National Assembly alone.
Polls show that RN could achieve a relative majority of 170 to 230 Members, which represents a huge jump from the 89 achieved only two years ago -which were already a record- and the 8 seats in 2017.
The leader of the RN, Marine Le Pen, and her dolphin and aspiring prime minister, Jordan Bardella, insist that an absolute majority is still possible and have denounced the massive withdrawal of candidates as an anti-democratic “deception”.
Le Pen and Bardella’s political initiatives have called the attention of the French people promising stop sending weapons or more money to Ukraine if they get the power.
Other more controversial measures have been that dual nationals should not occupy strategic positions in the administration, eliminate social assistance and limit health care to immigrants, saying that “I will expel illegal immigrants and abolish the right to land”, land right is what allows a person to acquire French nationality by being born in France, even if their parents are foreigners.
The voting centers close at 18.00 (16.00 GMT) in the smaller towns, an hour later in the medium cities and at 20.00 (18.00 GMT) will do so in the large ones, at the last hour will be released several projections on the composition of the new National Assembly, while the Ministry of the Interior begins to disclose the first provisional data.
