Fugitives From Venezuelan Justice Attack the Country’s Democracy

Fugitives from Venezuelan justice Edmundo González Urrutia and Antonio Ledezma travel to Argentina to promote illegality in a clear affront against Venezuelan institutionality.

Urrutia is accused by the Prosecutor’s Office of crimes such as “conspiracy” and “association to commit a crime”. On December 20, Spain granted him political asylum after he went into exile in Madrid on September 8.
The Venezuelan Attorney General’s Office recently announced that a reward of US$100,000 is being offered for information leading to his capture.
The far-right oppositionist is scheduled to arrive in Buenos Aires this Friday to meet on Saturday morning at the seat of government with the Argentine President, the far-right Javier Milei. He will then travel to Montevideo to meet with Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou and Foreign Minister Omar Paganini.
Meanwhile, from Argentina, opponent Antonio Ledezma has called for illegality and the recognition of an unelected government such as that of Venezuelan fugitive from justice Edmundo Gonzalez.
Both have called for rebellion and attacks against Venezuela’s democratic institutions. This happens before the inauguration of President-elect Nicolás Maduro on January 10.
After the results of the elections of last July 28 in Venezuela, the Venezuelan extreme right wing, led by former candidate Edmundo González and opposition candidate María Corina Machado, began a process of destabilization in the country, which led to the commission of several crimes by groups related to the extreme right wing.
