The government of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamist organization Hamas, issued a warning on Tuesday urging the population to exercise “maximum caution” amid an intensified context of Israeli attacks, even though negotiations for a ceasefire agreement in Doha appear to be progressing.
In an official statement, the Gaza Strip executive recalled “past experiences” that show Israel does not hesitate to carry out “massacres and crimes” against the Palestinian people, even when a truce is being discussed.
This message resonates at a time when the humanitarian situation in Gaza is critical, with thousands of lives lost and infrastructure devastated.
The government’s recommendations include exercising caution when traveling and following official reports, given the risk of encountering areas still under bombardment or with hidden booby traps.
Additionally, there was a warning about possible landslides from destroyed buildings, which adds an extra level of danger for citizens.
The statement urged the people of Gaza to be extremely cautious in their daily activities and avoid gatherings that could become targets for Israeli forces.
Despite the rising tension and recent attacks that have left more than 100 dead in a single day, Hamas expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing negotiations in Doha, where both a ceasefire and the exchange of Palestinian hostages and prisoners are being discussed.
Since the beginning of the conflict on October 7, 2023, health authorities have confirmed more than 46,645 deaths in Gaza, while thousands of missing people are estimated to remain under the rubble.
In this context of uncertainty and suffering, the people of Gaza face an uncertain future as they await the outcome of negotiations that could bring a respite to the devastated region.
