According to Lazzarini, the educational facility was to be part of the second round of the polio vaccination campaign that began this day.

On Monday, the commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, today called for an end to the horror in Gaza after Israel struck a school and hospital, killing dozens of people.

‘All this must not become the new norm. Humanity must prevail,’ the official wrote on his X account after the Tel Aviv Defense Forces shelled the courtyard of Al Aqsa hospital and an UNRWA school in the central part of the enclave.

According to Lazzarini, the educational facility was to be part of the second round of the polio vaccination campaign that began this day.

‘Gaza is a never-ending hell,’ he added.

According to media reports, at least 25 people were killed in the early hours of Monday morning after two Israeli bombings hit a school housing displaced people in the Nuseirat refugee camp and tents set up at the Al Aqsa hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah.

The impacts on the health facility caused a fire that engulfed a tent camp for war-displaced people, leaving more than two dozen with severe burns.

Israeli forces claimed it targeted militants lingering among civilians, but provided no evidence.

The assault adds to a long list of similar actions by Tel Aviv troops repeatedly striking shelters and tent camps under the guise of targeting members of the Hamas group.
