The Global Media Summit presents a unique opportunity to forge stronger alliances with global media organizations, according to Viasen Soobramoney, President of the Independent Media Editorial Council. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 6th Global Media Summit on Monday, Soobramoney emphasized the importance of these alliances not just for Africa, but for the global media landscape as a whole.

“This summit brings together some of the brightest minds in global media and allows us to reimagine how media can drive growth in Africa and strengthen exchanges between nations, paving the way for new avenues of prosperity,” he stated.

Soobramoney further highlighted the power of media professionals to connect people across borders, create platforms for dialogue, and share innovations that can foster development. He noted that media serves not only as a reflection of reality but also as a powerful tool for shaping perceptions, promoting dialogue, and driving change.

“This summit is not merely about discussing the challenges we face; it is about finding common ground and working together to address these issues in a way that benefits everyone,” he asserted. “Let us collaborate to create a global media landscape that is inclusive, representative, and focused on driving positive change.”

With the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Media Transformation,” the summit is co-organized by Xinhua News Agency and the Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It has gathered over 500 participants from 106 countries and regions, including representatives from 208 media outlets, government agencies, and international organizations
