Grenadian PM Mitchell Paid Tribute to Liberator Simon Bolivar in Venezuela

His visit seeks to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between the South American nation and the Caribbean island.

On Monday afternoon, the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, arrived in Venezuela on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

He landed at Simon Bolivar Airport in Maiquetia, La Guaira State, where he was received by Tourism Minister Leticia Gomez and the Vice Minister for the Caribbean, Raul Li Causi.

During his visit, Mitchell held meetings with Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil and other high-ranking officials with the aim of strengthening cooperation, solidarity, and friendship between Venezuela and Grenada.

His agenda also included a visit to the National Pantheon, a historic site that is a fundamental symbol of Venezuelan national identity. There, Mitchell signed the guest book for distinguished visitors and laid a floral offering at the tomb of Simon Bolivar, the hero of South American independence who liberated five nations from Spanish imperial rule in the 19th century.

The main purpose of the Grenadian Prime Minister’s visit is to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between the South American nation and the Caribbean island. In this regard, the authorities of Grenada and Venezuela will review issues related to bilateral collaboration in strategic sectors.

Both nations have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 47 years, characterized as successful and strategic, and based on reciprocity between both governments. In recent years, this friendship has been further consolidated under the principles of mutual respect and policies that deepen the bond between the two countries.

For its part, the Bolivarian Government, led by President Nicolas Maduro, has repeatedly expressed its desire to continue strengthening the friendship, brotherhood, cooperation, support, and solidarity between both nations.
