Haiti continues to be plunged into a new spiral of violence. The poorest country in America has been mired for years in acute political, economic, health and security crises that have fuelled the growing violence and paralysis that is gripping it.

This reached a peak with the assassination of President Jovenel MoĂŻse on July 7, 2021 by a group of Colombian mercenaries, perpetrated at his home in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince.
