The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned Israel for continuing to carry out brutal massacres in Gaza, intensifying these attacks after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement on Wednesday. Hamas claims that these actions are deliberate attempts by Israel to frustrate the ceasefire and prevent it from taking effect on Sunday, January 19.

In a statement released on Friday, Hamas reported that these recent attacks have led to the deaths of more than 100 Palestinian martyrs, including entire families, as homes, tents, and civilian gatherings were bombed. Hamas denounced Israel’s actions as confirmation of its “terrorist and fascist” policies, accusing the Israeli government of continuing its genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people.

Hamas further claimed that the Israeli occupation is working to derail the ceasefire, urging international mediators to hold Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government accountable for these atrocities.

The movement also called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take immediate action to halt Israel’s alleged terrorism and to document these unprecedented war crimes.

The resistance also appealed for greater international solidarity with the Palestinian cause and for increased political pressure to isolate Israel, believing this would force Tel Aviv to end its ongoing aggression against Gaza and the West Bank.

In response to accusations from the Israeli government that Hamas had violated the terms of the ceasefire agreement, Hamas official Izzat el-Risheq reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to the deal. He rejected claims from Netanyahu that Hamas had backtracked on several aspects of the agreement, and denied that the resistance movement had caused any crisis.

According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, as of 9:00 AM local time on Friday, Israeli forces had killed 103 Gazan civilians since the ceasefire began, including 27 children and 31 women, and injured over 264 others. Since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 46,788 Palestinians, injured over 110,000, and caused the disappearance of approximately 11,000.

Meanwhile, two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, have threatened to resign if the ceasefire is approved. They have vowed to return to Netanyahu’s government only if the military campaign against Gaza resumes with even greater intensity.
