Hamas Delegation Arrives in Cairo for Ceasefire Agreement Discussions

This Friday, a delegation from the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas arrived in Cairo to participate in negotiations on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

These talks are part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts, acting as a mediator alongside the United States and Qatar, to maintain peace in the region and facilitate the implementation of the agreement.

The ceasefire, which was implemented on January 19, 2025, was structured in three phases and resulted from intense negotiations led by Egypt, with the support of Qatar and the United States.

However, discussions to move forward with the second phase had stalled after the completion of the first phase, which lasted 42 days and concluded on March 1.

Egypt has intensified its diplomatic efforts amid a critical situation in Gaza. Recently, the Arab nation organized an urgent summit with regional leaders, where an ambitious $53 billion reconstruction plan for Gaza was presented.

This plan, however, is contingent on a permanent ceasefire that ensures a secure environment for the necessary investments and funding.
