The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has responded to recent accusations by Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, who suggested that Hamas is planning to attack soldiers and settlers during the current ceasefire.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, Hamas described these claims as “misleading” and “baseless,” suggesting that they are part of an Israeli strategy to evade its responsibilities under the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas emphasized that Katz’s statements about creating a buffer zone on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt constitute a “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement. According to the group, these moves are deliberate attempts to sabotage the pact and destabilize the situation in the region.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem reiterated the movement’s commitment to all terms of the ceasefire and expressed its readiness to begin negotiations on the second phase of the agreement. Additionally, he called on international mediators and involved parties to pressure Israel to comply with the established terms and prevent Benjamin Netanyahu’s government from obstructing the process.

This statement highlights the fragility of the current ceasefire and the urgent need for all parties to work toward a lasting solution in a context marked by historical tensions and prolonged conflicts.

The situation remains critical, and the future of the agreement depends on the willingness of both sides to engage in constructive dialogue and respect the agreed-upon terms.
