The Palestinian Resistance movement, Hamas, announced on Friday its willingness to release Israeli-American soldier Idan Alexander, as well as the bodies of four other individuals with dual nationality.

This decision comes as part of a proposal presented by international mediators seeking to resume negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and a prisoner exchange agreement.

Hamas stated that it received a new plan from mediators on Thursday and responded positively during the early hours of Friday. 

In its statement, the group emphasized its commitment to the releases and its readiness to begin negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement on issues related to the second phase of the process.

Additionally, Hamas urged “Israel” to fulfill its commitments, highlighting the importance of moving toward an understanding that benefits both parties. 

This announcement marks a significant step in the context of regional tensions and opens the door to potential dialogues that could contribute to stability in Gaza.
