Hamas rejected Tel Aviv’s intention to remain in the Philadelphia Corridor (separating the Gaza Strip from Egypt) and the Netzarim Corridor (halving the territory of Gaza). Both demands of the Israeli head of government, Benjamin Netanyahu, are contrary to Hamas’ demand that the occupying forces withdraw completely from Gaza.

The Zionist entity added them to maintain military control over parts of Gaza territory and would limit the exercise of sovereignty by future Gaza authorities.

After meeting with mediators from Egypt and Qatar, a Hamas spokesman, Izzat al-Rishk, told international media that the Palestinian resistance urged Netanyahu to stick to the draft submitted by the US on 2 July. and the subsequent resolution issued by the United Nations (UN) Security Council.

The draft submitted by the U.S. envisages three phases. The first is for six weeks, a time when the occupation would withdraw its troops from Gaza and exchange kidnapped Palestinians for vulnerable hostages.

The second stage would lead to a permanent end of hostilities and the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza. During the third phase, it would begin reconstruction of Gaza and the handover of the bodies of the hostages who lost their lives.
