The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, presides over the ceremony to commemorate the 203rd anniversary of the independence of Central America, from the National Stadium «Chelato Uclés», where she said that her country defends itself with dignity and courage.

During her speech, the president made a made mention of several achievements of his government while continuing to reject the most recent coup attempts against her.

Castro remarked children receive their daily school lunch, thousands of schools are being rebuilt in the country, as well as public health institutions and recognized the increase in the production of basic grains for the people’s food.

“We have established since my first day in office, our political and social commitment to defend democracy and sovereignty against interference,” she said, adding that her message annoyed a group of people, used to control the state and national economy to do national business, but stressed that his government’s transparency is aimed at restoring the dignity and rights of the people, which were stolen.

“In defense of our sovereignty and with the support of the government, the law authorizing the sale of our territory was repealed” said the Honduran head of state while guaranteeing that in 2025 there will be “free and transparent elections.”

About the national sovereignty she said that is “To ensure that decisions that benefit the people of Honduras are made by the government elected by the people, not by factional powers, said the president, inviting the working class to continue fighting for independence, sovereignty and justice. Honduras is not a business. They have to pay taxes.”
