“Prior to the destruction, experts from the Forensic Medicine Toxicological Chemical Laboratory performed a random test to confirm that the drug to be burned is cocaine hydrochloride,” he added.

The 5,631 kilograms of incinerated cocaine were seized in three operations between February and May 2024, in which authorities captured four people for the crime of aggravated drug trafficking, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said.

Of the total amount of drugs burned, 2,835 kilos were in two intercepted boats between the sectors of Río Esteban, Palacios, Ibans and Brus Laguna, departments of Colón and Gracias a Dios, in the Honduran Caribbean.
