Honduras Prepares to Receive a Shipment of Dengue Vaccines by October

Amy Tovar, an epidemiologist at the Ministry of Health, told reporters that TAK-003 vaccines, developed in Japan, will be applied to children between the ages of 5 and 16.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Honduras will receive at least 57,000 dengue vaccines in October, a disease that has caused the death of at least 24 people so far in 2024.

Amy Tovar, an epidemiologist at the Ministry of Health, told reporters that TAK-003 vaccines, developed in Japan, will be applied to children between the ages of 5 and 16.
He added that the introduction of drugs is being coordinated with the Expanded Program on Immunizations (EPI) and that its arrival has been delayed by the demand that its provider is having.
In addition to the vaccination campaign for the months of October, government entities ensure that in places where mosquito vectors are present, campaigns will be carried out to clean up, eliminate hatcheries and fumigations.
Officially, the health authorities have recorded 24 deaths from dengue fever, 5,860 people infected and a total of more than 448,400 cases registered nationally.
Unofficially, it has been reported that 80 people died of dengue fever, but so far authorities have only confirmed 24, another health source said in the Honduran capital.
