Yehya Sarea the Houthi military spokesman, called these three new actions “qualitative” and “successful”, and indicated that “the first one targeted the BENTLEY I ship in the Red Sea, using several ships, drones and ballistic missiles”.
“The second operation was carried out against the oil tanker CHIOS Lion also in the Red Sea, with an unmanned ship,” Sarea added in a statement, stating that “the impact was precise and direct”.
He accused both vessels of “violating the ban on sailing to occupied Palestinian ports” in reference to Israeli ports, although he did not disclose details of the ships attacked.
According to the military spokesman, “the third operation was carried out in cooperation with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance in the Mediterranean and targeted the ship, Olvia. The operation successfully achieved its objective”.
His claims come hours after the British Navy reported two attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea on Monday, about 97 and 70 nautical miles from the Yemeni port city of Al Hodeida, respectively.
The Shiite group has increased in recent weeks the frequency and intensity of these actions, while they have presented new weapons with which to ensure that they can achieve objectives in the Mediterranean, although so far, all attacks on that sea have been intercepted.
