“Twelve years after his physical departure, the legacy of Commander Hugo Chavez remains alive in the hearts of the peoples of Latin America and the world. His figure is a beacon not only for Venezuela but for all the free peoples of the world,” Buen Abad said.
“Hugo Chavez’s work had a planetary humanist projection,” he added, emphasizing that the Venezuelan leader always expressed his solidarity and concern for oppressed peoples.
“Chavez, a dear friend, had the peoples of the entire world in his mind and heart,” Buen Abad said, recalling how the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution was warmly received and respected in places as distant as the humblest neighborhoods of Africa.
The philosopher also highlighted that the late Venezuelan president deeply connected with poor and marginalized communities across all continents.
“We saw him walk through the deepest neighborhoods of the most wounded and afflicted Africa. There, the people took to the streets to embrace him with respect and love for his work, his ideas, and his human nature,” Buen Abad recalled.
“I don’t think there is a single corner of the Patria Grande where Hugo Chavez does not have a special place reserved,” the philosopher emphasized while recalling his legacy for the working class, farmers, and Indigenous peoples.
Buen Abad stressed that Chavez’s connection with the masses was no coincidence but rather the result of a unique synchronicity between his thinking and the needs of the people. “Rarely has a voice like Hugo Chavez’s been so representative of the needs, ideas, dreams, and aspirations of the people,” he said.
“The figure and memory of Hugo Chavez are always present in the most unexpected corners of the Americas, a continent wounded and harassed by so much imperial madness,” Buen Abad stressed.
