“Humanitarian Aid in Gaza is Hanging by a Thread”: Russia Warns

Aid flows through the territories of Egypt, Jordan and Israel are scarce, with only 70 vehicles carrying humanitarian aid.

The UN’s share of humanitarian aid in Gaza could come to an end if the situation continues as it has been, warned Russia’s representative on the UN Security Council, Vasilyt Nebenzya.

In an official statement issued on Monday, the diplomat referred to obstacles that could frustrate the development of the UN-led humanitarian campaign aimed at counteracting the damage caused by Israel to the population of Gaza.

According to Nebenzya, «it is clear that the route currently used from Jordan, Egypt and Israel is not sufficient to deliver all the necessary humanitarian aid. »

Aid flows from the territories of Egypt, Jordan and Israel are scarce, with only 70 vehicles carrying humanitarian aid, while 500 Israeli vehicles circulate in the area with the aim of exterminating the population. He also noted that those responsible for delivering humanitarian aid are complaining not only about the lack of resources, such as food, fuel and medicines, but also about problems generated by Israel, including their continued refusal to allow humanitarian operations and violence against humanitarian personnel during the process.

The situation is aggravated by the continuing massacres perpetrated by Zionist groups, which have carried out bombings of displaced persons’ camps, residential areas, schools and other social institutions, resulting in the death of 41,226 Palestinians in the region in 341 days, according to UN figures.

This panorama reinforces the approach of the Russian chancellor, who warned that the cessation of aid could mean «death for more than two million Palestinians», which reflects the gravity of the situation.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that almost half of the organization’s attempts to reach the northern part of the Gaza Strip have failed due to Israel’s refusal.
