The criminalization of migration is absolutely reprehensible and discriminatory, Venezuelan legislator Martinez said.

On Wednesday, a video posted on social media exposed the mistreatment and xenophobia that Venezuelan migrants are suffering in the United States.

In Spokane, Washington, agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) broke the windows of a vehicle to arrest Venezuelan migrants.

“The images show ICE agents surrounding the car while the driver refused to get out, arguing that his pregnant wife was inside the vehicle. In response, the officers decided to break the car windows and forcibly remove them… The detained individuals were allegedly linked to the Aragua Train, although no evidence was presented to support these accusations,” Venezuela News reported.

Previously, human rights defenders denounced that President Donald Trump’s administration is using the supposed link to the Aragua Train as an excuse to justify arbitrary detentions and deportations of Venezuelan migrants without due process.

The text reads, “ICE agents smash car windows to abruptly arrest Venezuelan migrants in Spokane, USA. This couple was wrongly accused of being Aragua Train members. The young Venezuelan explained that his wife was pregnant.”

“In recent days, the Republican administration has intensified its policy of criminalizing migration, even disregarding orders from the U.S. justice system. These latest actions have primarily targeted Venezuelans, who now live in fear in the United States,” Venezuela News recalled.

On Wednesday, Venezuelan legislator Luis Eduardo Martinez denounced that the transfer of 238 Venezuelans to the Terrorism Confinement Center, a maximum-security prison in El Salvador, is clearly a sign of xenophobic behavior.

“The criminalization of Venezuelan migration is absolutely reprehensible and, moreover, discriminatory and a violation of fundamental human rights principles,” emphasized the Democratic Action politician, who also expressed his opposition to the transfer of Venezuelans to Guantanamo prison.
