She emphasized that such a measure is critical for facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and addressing the ongoing crisis in the region.
“Without a ceasefire, we cannot deliver aid to Gaza,” Pope stated in an interview with the press. She described the humanitarian situation in the area as having reached “astronomical levels” of need, requiring immediate and coordinated international action.
Months of relentless conflict have left Gaza in dire straits, with thousands of families displaced and critical infrastructure—such as hospitals and water systems—severely damaged.
Pope underscored that a permanent ceasefire would not only enable the delivery of vital assistance but also pave the way for long-term solutions to Gaza’s humanitarian challenges.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Pope’s remarks highlighted the need for global commitment to alleviating the suffering of affected communities and rebuilding a foundation for development and stability in the region.
