During the meeting, both foreign ministers discussed how to develop bilateral cooperation and recent developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The rapprochement takes place in the context of negotiations between Hamas (part of the Iran-led Axis of Resistance) and Israel with the aim of achieving a ceasefire in Palestine.

However, the rounds of talks held in Cairo were interrupted after the decision to raise new demands from Israel.

One of the points of disagreement is Tel Aviv’s condition to maintain forces in Gaza after the war ends.

Tel Aviv insisted on remaining in the Philadelphia Corridor and the Netzarim Corridor, while the LRM claimed that both demands were contrary to its demand for the occupation forces to withdraw completely from Gaza.

While Egypt as mediator in the talks stated that it is necessary for the total withdrawal of the Zionist regime from the Philadelphia Corridor, but not to delay the agreement, he proposed that the withdrawal should be done in two stages.

Since 7 October last, 40,435 Palestinians have been killed and 93,534 injured.
