Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday the arrest of 12 people who were part of a terrorist cell linked to Israeli intelligence, who planned to carry out violent actions against the country.

The IRGC said in a statement that its intelligence unit identified members of the team in six provinces all around the country.

In this regard, the entity emphasized that Israel’s plans come after “the disgraceful defeat and failure of the Zionist regime and its Western and European sponsors, especially the United States, in achieving their sinister and diabolical objectives against the people of Gaza and Lebanon.”

IRGC says the Israeli leaders have tried to push the crisis into Iran, and have included in their agenda the design of a series of actions against the security of the Persian country.

Local media recall that in mid-June, Iranian intelligence entities arrested a man in the central province of Qom under charges of “affiliation with the Israeli Mossad spy agency and collaboration with foreign-based media outlets engaged in anti-Iran propaganda.”

The agent plotted several attempts to incite unrest following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in September 2022, and also accused of making derogatory remarks against Iranian authorities and law enforcement online.
