Iranian Citizen Hamid Nuori Was Released From Swedish Prison

The Secretary-General of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, Kazem Gharibabadi announced through his X account that the Iranian citizen Hamid Nouri, illegaly detained in Sweden by allegedly political crimes, was released this Saturday and and he’s back on his land now.

Gharibabadi said in X that he is “pleased to inform the dear people of Iran that Mr. Hamid Noori, who has been in illegal detention in Sweden since 2018, is free and will return to the country” and remarked that the successful release is “due to the efforts of my colleagues in the Judiciary, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially my brother Martyr Dr. Amir Abdullahian.”

Majid Nouri, Hamid’s son expressed that “On the eve of the Eid al-Adha and Ghadir holidays, following 1,680 days in detention, the persistent efforts of our committed officials have been successful, and my father, Hamid Nouri, is expected to arrive in Iran shortly.”

“I am pleased to inform the dear people of Iran that Mr. Hamid Noori, who has been in illegal detention in Sweden since 2018, is free and will return to the country in a few hours. This success is due to the efforts of my colleagues in the Judiciary, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially my brother Martyr Dr. Amir Abdullahian.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA says that Hamid Nouri was arrested upon arrival at the Stockholm Airport in November 2019 and was immediately imprisoned on bogus charges has been held in solitary confinement for over two years.

IRNA also says that Swedish prosecutors have requested the maximum penalty of life imprisonment for the former Iranian judiciary official, falsely accusing him of prisoner abuse in the 1980s.

On the other hand, the Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaan said the safe Nouri’s release has demostrated the Persian country’s strong diplomacy in the safeguarding of its citizens and national interests.

The information was also confirmed by the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson who expressed that two Nordic citizens, Johan Floderus, and Saeed Azizi were released from Iran and noted that they are in way to their country.
