This was echoed in a speech delivered at the 19th ministerial meeting of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), read by Iran’s acting foreign minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, on Monday in Tehran.
In that sense, he affirmed that the «power of the new Asia and the strengthening of the economic and technological bases in this continent» have played an important role in ending the era of unilateralism.
The world is in a period of historic transition to a new international order and the emergence of a multipolar world. This irreversible path is strongly influenced by the emerging Asian powers», he added.
According to Bagheri Kani, the benefits and useful results of multilateralism are evident in regional unions and organizations.
«We believe that under existing circumstances in the international system, Asia can shape a new model based on justice, human dignity, dialogue, friendship and multilateralism in the field of changing global relations», he added.
The message, read on behalf of the Iranian interim president, expresses that multilateralism will pave the way to benefit from the opportunity to participate in multilateral agreements, which are formed as a result of unity against unilateralism.
According to the communiqué, Iran believes that Asia can create positive changes in global relations and play a leading role in forging international convergence, he added.
In that direction, he expressed confidence that the new model could boost synergy among Asian countries and be beneficial for reforms in global structures.
«What is vital for the new international order is to end the monopolistic arrogance of the West in the international political, economic, monetary and financial systems», he affirmed.
He also noted that greater trade and economic convergence among Asian countries, as well as with other emerging economies of the global South, will facilitate and accelerate the path to achieving the aforementioned goal.
Elsewhere in its statement, the Iranian Government stated that modern technologies and artificial intelligence can create unique opportunities, but at the same time can become the greatest challenges and threats in Asia and around the world.
As Chair of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, Iran has chosen the motto of «a more powerful and coherent Asia through modern and emerging technologies» as the central point of its activities, he added.
The interim Government also welcomed the resistance of the courageous and defenceless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip to the genocidal war of the Israeli regime over the past nine months. It once again condemned Israel’s crimes and genocide in Gaza, which have continued because of the inaction of the international community. Almost 37,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and more than 86,000 injured in the Israeli war against the coastal strip that began on 7 October following a retaliatory operation organized by the territory’s resistance groups.
