In a new act classified as a war crime against the population of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces bombed the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City on Sunday, rendering the facilities completely out of service.

According to local media, two missiles launched by Israeli aircraft struck the main building of the hospital, causing massive destruction and igniting fires in critical departments of the health center, including the emergency room, laboratory, and pharmacy.

Witnesses of the attack revealed that the Israeli military had issued a threat to bomb the hospital shortly before the strike, giving patients, injured individuals, and medical staff only a few minutes to evacuate. The forced evacuation left many patients without access to urgent medical care, and dozens were seen lying around the hospital in freezing weather conditions.

The Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital served over one million residents in Gaza City and northern Gaza. Its destruction represents a severe blow to an already collapsed healthcare system in Gaza, which has been under Israeli siege since the onset of military operations

. Since October 2023, at least 34 hospitals in Gaza have been destroyed and forced to close, along with dozens of health centers and clinics.

These Israeli attacks, according to human rights organizations, constitute clear violations of international law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, which protect medical institutions during conflicts. In recent months, following the destruction of medical centers such as Al-Shifa Hospital, Indonesian Hospital, and Kamal Adwan Hospital, Al-Ahli had become the main medical center in northern Gaza.
