A NGO active in Gaza reported on Friday an Israeli attack on a humanitarian aid convoy, which was carried out the day before in the Kerem Shalom area and killed four “unarmed” Palestinian guards who were escorting their convoy.

Washington-based NGO Anera, which is mainly dedicated to assisting refugees in various conflicts in the Middle East, explained in a statement that the attack “was carried out without warning or communication” and that it was scheduled according to “a coordinated and clear plan” with Israel.

He adds that the Israeli authorities have assured them that the vehicle attacked carried “numerous weapons”.

However, Anera claims that the convoy was transporting food and fuel for a hospital run by the UAE Red Crescent and that the transport was handled by the company Move One, with which Anera has “a strict agreement” to use only “unarmed security guards”.

Only the vehicle leading the convoy was attacked.

No member of Anera was injured, and in fact the convoy continued on its way to the Emirati hospital and could deliver their “critical aid”.

However, the israeli strike to the convoy killed four palestinians who where accompaining the convoy across the Strip.

This follows a similar incident on Tuesday night in the same area, when a convoy organized by the World Food Programme was also attacked by the Israeli army, which fired at least 10 shots at the first vehicle, and only the shielding prevented casualties; as a result, WFP temporarily suspended its movements in Gaza.
